About the Position: This position is with the US Army Corps of Engineers, Institute for Water Resources (IWR)-Water Resources Center located in Alexandra, Virginia. This is an opportunity to work with individuals from a variety of technical subject matters and provide administrative services that support effective and efficient business operations of the Water Resources Center. This is not a remote position.

Duties

Serves as a central point of authority for the coordination, documentation, and execution of administrative policies, procedures, and requirements. Processes labor/payroll, travel, and equipment/supply procurement functions for the organization through computer based software systems. Produces and reviews correspondence, supports mail and shipping activity, and tracks inventory, training, and other task assignments. Utilizes spreadsheets or databases for data entry, basic analysis or synthesis and creation of tables resulting in progress and status reports for assigned functional areas. Develops and reviews processes for automation support to support recommendations on improving program efficiency and effectiveness. Supports conferences and meetings through the preparation or arrangement of handouts, information papers, staff summaries, technical papers, engineering regulations, pamphlets, reports, charts and graphs. All responsibilities are written at the full performance/GS-07 level.

Qualifications for the GS-06 Grade Level: Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Preparing a variety of documents using automated systems, filing and data entry, making travel arrangements, maintaining office calendars, timekeeping, and advising others on office operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted for the GS-06 and GS-07 positions. Qualifications for the GS-05 Grade Level: Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Clerical or administrative tasks such as preparing a variety of documents using automated systems, filing and data entry, maintaining office calendars, and timekeeping. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Selective Placement Factor: This position requires the ability to type 40 wpm. Time in Grade Requirement for GS-07: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). Time in Grade Requirement for GS-06: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). Time in Grade Requirement for GS-05: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).

Education
