You will serve as a SUPERVISORY NUCLEAR ZONE MANAGER in the NUCLEAR REGIONAL MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT, NUCLEAR PRODUCTION MANAGER, OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will be accountable for successful execution of assigned projects to include fabrication, contract, shop, ship, facility, and other productive work. You will be responsible for appropriate personnel, equipment, tooling, etc. support for Ship availability on yard and off yard sites. You will plan, organize, and direct activities of Nuclear Production to ensure project and facilities management comply with legal and regulatory requirements. You will develop goals and objectives that integrate organization and project management objectives.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying knowledge of shop work operations and practices of the various trades in the shop. Experience practicing analytical management techniques, including production and material control, cost control and personnel management. Experience managing personnel training needs and maintaining the necessary skills required for the shop. Experience working with the negotiated agreement procedures, and shipyard instructions. Experience planning, scheduling, and executing work of subordinate personnel.
