The primary purpose of this position is to operate farm-type tractors on steep or rough uneven terrain where there is significant danger of overturning. The position requires seasonal gardening and grounds maintenance work.

Duties

1.Operates farm-type tractors and towed or attached equipment on steep or rough terrain causing rough jolting rides 2. Determines equipment operations for maneuvering on steep or rough terrain that are appropriate to the operating characteristics of the tractor and towed or attached equipment. 3. Plans and carries out gardening work according to the schedule or project assignment, keeping within the framework of established gardening practices. 4. Performs operator maintenance such as checking and replenishing fluids to proper levels, examining and changing filters, changing and sharpening blades, lubricating equipment, and making necessary. 5. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. 6. Operates a variety of gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles such as platform trucks, van trucks, pick­up trucks, stake trucks, or dump trucks which typically have a GVW of more than 10,000 and up to 26,000 lbs.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5700 Transportation/Mobile Equipment Operations Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision.
