About the Position: Incumbent will serve as the Deputy Director of Emergency Services at a military installation and as such responsible for law enforcement and fire protection/prevention that encompasses a variety of sensitive and critical garrison wide programs.

Duties

Represents the garrison for law enforcement and fire protection/prevention law enforcement matters to the surrounding civilian communities to include the local, county and state police and fire departments; as well as civic interest groups. Exercises exclusive law enforcement jurisdiction at the garrison with responsibility for investigating, apprehending and detaining persons suspected or convicted of offenses against the criminal laws of the United States Forms and maintains close liaison and day to day working relationships with those local authorities as well as other Federal agencies such as the FBI and FEMA for the successful delivery of law enforcement and fire protection/prevention services. Establishes and maintains mutual aid agreements with the civilian communities for consequence management operations for natural or manmade disasters. Coordinates force protection measures with authorities of the local civilian community to ease traffic congestion and impact upon the community caused changes to traffic patterns Seeks the participation and integrates the response forces of the civilian communities for annual anti-terrorism exercises and consequence management. Coordinates activities with the other garrison directors to ensure the effective and efficient management of law enforcement and fire protection/prevention programs and services.

Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent to possess a valid state driver's license.
  • Designated Mission Essential Position: Incumbent is required to report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, and other emergency situations.
  • Incumbent is required to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, (5CFR Part 2634, Subpart I Confidential Financial Disclosure Reports) upon entering the position and annually.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Secret Clearance required.
  • This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 .
  • Drug Testing Designated - This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Human Capital ManagementLeadershipPlanning and EvaluatingQuality Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
