The primary purpose of this position, INVENTORY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST, GS-2010-11, is to provide and maintain inventory management control over a group or groups of assigned items to support weapon or operational equipment systems on a continuing and worldwide basis.

Duties

Perform work associated with inventory management of a group or groups of high activity and dollar value items. Validate input date that is used in the requirements computation for items managed. Take appropriate action as indicated by final/ summary computation results. Assist customers at Air Force bases. Support non- Air Force customers.

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, ADMINISTRATIVE AND MANAGEMENT POSITIONS. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. An example of creditable specialized experience includes: applying knowledge of a broad range of inventory management principals and expertise in concepts and methodologies sufficient to perform a variety of complex assignments, operations and procedures; judgment and analytical techniques in resolving complex issues and problems; established inventory management systems, methods and procedures to weigh the impact of variables that influence the course of action taken; the ability to analyze independently and resolve difficult issues and problems involving requirements and support issues. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. EDUCATION: Applicant has successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LL.M., if related. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: An equivalent combination of successfully completed, qualifying education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Specialized experience directly related to the work of the position may be used to meet the requirements of this position. Education in excess of master's or equivalent graduate degree, or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.B. or J.D., if related, may be used to qualify applicants for the GS-11 level. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-­grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. Due to the use of 120 day rosters, applicants within 120 days of completion of TIG requirements are encouraged to apply. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Broad knowledge of many inventory management programs, principals, procedures, techniques, relationships and practices to include just-in-time inventory principals, components of stock level algorithms and costs of purchases. In depth knowledge of established supply systems (D035A/D, RAMP and DSS). Knowledge of acquisition processes, automated records and control systems, material substitution criteria, storage, issue and disposal processes. Skills to apply a variety of analytical methods and techniques to independently resolve difficult inventory management problems and issues. Skills to interpret, adapt and apply a broad range of inventory management guidelines. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is primarily sedentary and is usually accomplished while the employee is seated at a desk or table. Some walking, standing, and carrying of light object may occur in the course of a normal workday. No special physical effort is required to perform the work. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in an office-like setting involving everyday risks and discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of an office-like environment. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
