To provide a student trainee who has been appointed to the Pathways Internship Program with on-the-job training and guidance. The student trainee will perform very simple, routine clerical work in office, business, or fiscal operations and to provide training and experience for higher graded work.

Duties

Receives telephone calls and visitors. Processes incoming mail. Operates office machines such as office copying and FAX machines. Performs routine, miscellaneous clerical work.

Requirements

  • Must meet suitability requirements for Federal employment
  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Must be enrolled at least half-time at a qualiflying accredited institution
  • Must sign a Participant Agreement
  • U.S. citizen or national (resident of American Samoa or Swains Island)
  • Must be eligible to work under U.S. immigration laws
  • Males 18 years or older must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal and Regulatory Guidance
  • Accepted for enrollment or enrolled in an approved program
  • Meet the qualification standards of the position
  • Open to Houston County School District Only (Juniors and Seniors)
  • Two References are required (at least one from student's High School or Houston County Career Academy)

Ability to learn general office administrative and clerical procedures to distribute mail, use copier, and answer telephone. 2. Ability to learn organization and functions sufficient to receive visitors, telephone calls, and distribute mail by specific name/functional area. 3. Ability to follow step-by-step instructions to perform very simple, routine, or repetitive tasks. 4. Ability to communicate effectively orally using tact and courtesy. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
