The primary purpose of this position is to perform requisitioning, receipt, storage, issue, and replenishment of technical equipment, nonexpendable property, and a wide variety of supplies.

Duties

LEAD DUTIES: Distributes and balances the workload among three employees (1-Supply Technician, GS-2005-06, 2-Military, equivalent to Supply Technician, GS-2005-06). Monitors the status and progress of work and makes day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities. Provides supply support for production, overhaul, repair, or other operations for equipment, parts, and a wide variety of supply items. Determines stock levels needed for non-recurring, specialized items based on usage, inventory, project demands, seasonal demands, changing customer needs, and projected depletion. Performs property accountability and management. Maintains property accounts and records, completing individual transactions, screening reference files, conducting data searches, and disturbing output files. Performs document control work involved in the processing of supply transactions. Provides assistance to customers, storage depots, or other organizations. Performs general clerical support work. Uses multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents, formats, reports, etc.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule General Schedule Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, Supply Clerical and Technician Series, 2005. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of standardized supply regulations, policies, procedures, or other instructions relating to the specific functions assigned. Sound working knowledge of the structure of the local supply organization and the organizations serviced. Knowledge and ability to perform a range of standard clerical assignments and to resolve recurring problems. Knowledge of various office automation software processing procedures and function keys and the similarities and differences among software types to produce a wide range of documents, such as graphics or tables within text, to edit and reformat electronic drafts, and to update and revise existing databases or spreadsheets. Knowledge of standard office equipment, such as electric/ electronic typewriters, copiers, fax machines, and office automation systems to perform a substantial range of office automation support. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-­grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Ability to lead a group of civilian and military Supply Technicians. Ability to establish goals and assess progress to achieve their immediate supervisors directives. Knowledge of the Standard Base Supply Systems (SBSS) and other related logistics systems that interface and/or support the SBSS. Knowledge of supply regulations, policies, procedures, techniques, and methods. Knowledge of policies and procedures for requisitioning and stock control. Knowledge of general office administrative and clerical procedures. Knowledge of data entry and processing of supply transactions in an automated supply system. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents, such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs. Ability to research, compile, and analyze supply information and data; receive, screen, review, verify, and maintain supply documents; and resolve discrepancies. Ability to apply basic analytical methods and techniques to resolve complex supply problems and/ or deviate from normal supply management procedures or program requirements; and to conduct extensive searches for information and to reconstruct records for complex supply transactions. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
