The primary purpose of this position is to provide an administrative and executive specialist to the Commander, Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC). Performs duties designed to relieve the Commander of as much administrative and resource management detail as possible and contribute to their public relations.

Duties

Serves as an Administrative Executive to the HQ AFGSC Commander. Plans, schedules, and conducts a wide variety of analytical studies and projects related to administrative improvement, productivity improvement, management controls, and long-range planning. Coordinates with Commanders' Action Group (CAG) on AFGSC long range plans. Researches, reviews, and provides analysis of guidance received from headquarters. Ensures timely dissemination and provides direction to support MAJCOM wide compliance to improve the overall program processes. Performs full range of Executive Secretary duties required to support the AFSGC Commander in the performance of his official duties. Manages the AFGSC Commander's official/social appointments; interacts directly with the AFGSC Commander to determine official/social commitments and official travel requirements. Serves in the capacity of Confidential Assistant. Performs duties of a highly confidential nature in the "privileged communications" category; receives such communications for/from the AFGSC Commander; acts as custodian of sensitive correspondence by reviewing and safeguarding TS/SCI documents for HQ Staff positions. Participates in special projects and initiatives and performs special assignments. Identifies and develops project initiatives that satisfy a requirement or correct a problem. Researches and recommends appropriate action or interpretation of issues to AFGSC Commander or senior staff member.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09 equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes composing letters and reports; reviewing and editing correspondence for accuracy and completeness; and processing/routing incoming and outgoing correspondence; Planning, scheduling, and conducting a wide variety of analytical studies and projects related to administrative improvement, productivity improvement, management controls, and long-range planning; Cross-checking, analyzing, and interpreting potential source of data and references to obtain accurate, relevant information; Scheduling and monitoring flight hour requirements for Commander; tracking flight hours for the Commander and providing information to finance for flight pay. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in­-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-10 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge and skill in applying information gathering techniques, identifying and analyzing issues, and developing recommendations to resolve substantive problems of effectiveness and efficiency of work operations in the administrative processes of the organization. 2. Knowledge of the relationship of AFGSC functions and activities with those of other federal agencies and public and private organizations in order to monitor and coordinate matters with these organizations and to interpret/apply rules, regulations, and procedures. 3. Knowledge of the organization and function of U.S. Government agencies, domestic and overseas, sufficient to screen requests for information; personally provide information from files or records; advise on established procedures; and handle personally or refer non-routine requests to the appropriate staff member/office. 4. Knowledge of foreign relations/protocol procedures that apply to military/civilian leaders (foreign and domestic) and of sensitive, nationally unique customs and courtesies of the international community. 5. Comprehensive knowledge of the English language in order to proof documents and ensure correctness of format, grammar, spelling and punctuation. 6. Ability to use office automation equipment to process a variety of reports, graphic presentations, and briefing materials to satisfy executive support requirements for the AFGSC Commander. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
