About the Position: This job announcement is for a Lead Engineering Technician (Civil), GS-0802-12 position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District.

Duties

Oversee field collection and lab testing and verify that final lab test data is accurate and reliable utilizing quality control procedures. Research and apply quantitative methods to identify, assess, analyze, and improve team’s effectiveness, efficiency, and work products. Maintain program and administrative reference materials, project files and relevant background documents for the team. Train or arrange training of team members in methods and techniques of team building and working in teams to accomplish tasks or projects. Monitor progress of work and provide status updates to supervisor ensuring that work priorities, methods, deadlines, and quality product are being delivered/met. Plan, direct, and coordinate work activities involving soils and materials testing for navigation, flood risk reduction, and environmental mitigation projects. Communicate assignments, projects, problems to be solved, milestones, and deadlines for completions with the team.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid State driver's license for the class of vehicle being operated based on site specific, job related requirements, and must maintain this license.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Computer SkillsEngineering and TechnologyLeadershipTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
