About the Position: Serves as a Transportation Assistant in the SDDC Guam Detachment responsible for providing customers a full range of traffic management services for international shipments by surface modes on a worldwide basis in both peacetime and wartime. Performs full range of cargo documentation functions using Global Air Transportation Execution Systems (GATES) and other automated systems to process import and export cargo, cargo manifests, shipping labels, etc.

Duties

Serves as a Transportation Assistant in the SDDC Guam Detachment responsible for providing customers a full range of traffic management services for international shipments by surface modes on a worldwide basis in both peacetime and wartime. Under the guidance of a senior specialist or the supervisor performs transportation assignments such as cargo offering/booking and documentation system. Coordinates movement from point of origin to consignee with over the road and ocean carriers. Monitors executed movements through final delivery to ensure cargo is delivered in accordance with movement schedules and contractual terms. Utilize knowledge of transportation regulations to assist higher graded specialists in analyzing and resolving issues.

Requirements

  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A pre-employment physical is required.
  • This is an Emergency Essential position. This is an Emergency Essential position. Emergency-Essential designation takes precedence over any transportation agreement or military recall status.
  • This position requires approximately 25% of your duty to be performed in Temporary Duty Away (TDY) from your place of work status.
  • This position requires a Personnel Security Investigation.
  • The incumbent of this position may deploy at such times as directed to participate as member of Deployment Distribution Management Team (DDMT).

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical)Process ControlTransportationTransportation Engineering Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
