The primary purpose of this position is to operate one or more types of gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles typically having a gross vehicle weight of more than 32,000 pounds.

Duties

Drives tractor trailers and/or other vehicles typically having a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of more than 32,000 pounds. Operates one or more electric, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), or diesel powered fork lift trucks. Drives one or more types of passenger buses which carry 16 or more passengers. Performs operator maintenance. Maintains records and documents actions. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment

  • This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft
  • An appropriate, valid driver’s license is required for the position
  • Incumbent must possess or have the capability to acquire a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and any required endorsements within 12 months of assignment. This requirement is a condition of employment
  • Licensing of federal civilian employees in overseas areas will be governed by Status of Forces Agreements and/or host nation requirements
  • Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5700 Transportation/Mobile Equipment Operation Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is Ability to do the work of a Motor Vehicle Operator without more than normal supervision JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Operation of Motor Vehicles Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation) Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) Ability To Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle) Reliability and Dependability as a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR (FORK LIFT OPERATOR) This is an open continuous announcement and will be used to fill vacancies as openings occur.
