About the Position: This position supports the mission of J-8 and is located in Fort Sam Houston, Bexar, TX. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Duties

Responsible for the efficient complex operation of financial management systems such as GFEBS and ADS for implementing any changes in system operations. Evaluate a complex accounting program that interfaces with budgets and purchasing. Independently investigate a variety of technical finance and accounting problems/situations. Provide to activities, GFEBS obligation data, financial data and statistical analysis of financial and accounting systems information. Serve as a TIER 2 GFEBS helpdesk and reviews and analyzes all REMEDY trouble tickets and accounting systems issues both new and recurring. Interpret regulations and directives promulgated by higher authority and uses this information to establish, prepare, and disseminate policy and guidance to customers.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Continued employment in this position is subject to successfully obtaining and maintaining a Level 3 DoD Financial Management Certification within two years from entry on duty to the position.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Concepts, Policies, and Principles of FinanceCustomer ServiceFinancial Management Systems Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
