Duties

WHAT IS THE LARGE BUSINESS & INTERNATIONALDIVISION? A description of the business units can be found at: https://www.jobs.irs.gov/about/who/business-divisions Vacancies will be filled in the following specialty areas: Large Business and International Director Pass Thru Entities, any team in PTE The following are the duties of this position at the full working level. If this vacancy includes more than one grade and you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and receive training to help you grow in this position. Provides technical support to the Tax Attaché regarding ongoing programs, locates and summarizes information, compiles statistical schedules, maintains project records, conducts follow-up, and responds to routine inquiries. Provides statistical support to the Tax Attaché, research files and other sources, completes statistics on a variety of projects or program aspects, makes comparisons, and interprets and draws tentative conclusions based on statistics compiled. Reviews and performs basic analysis on management information reports to determine to what degree the program objective has been met. Analyzes and evaluates source data and information, detects trends, and interprets reports of progress in accomplishing the mission of the office. Primarily responsible for development of reports as required by Tax Attaché. Initiates and types correspondence, memos, reports, or verbal responses concerning assigned areas of responsibility. The incumbent must also maintain project control files making suggestions for improvement as necessary. Courteously and efficiently receives visitors and phone calls, determines the nature of information requested and answers questions or furnishes information when readily available, or refers the callers to the appropriate individual. Independently answers routine questions from taxpayers pertaining to examination, collection, and taxpayer service matters. This includes furnishing appropriate forms. Arranges appointments for the Tax Attaché without prior approval. Informs Tax Attaché of pending appointments, meetings, and other commitments and briefs him/her on the matters to be considered before the scheduled meeting. Schedules travel arrangements for the Tax Attaché and prepares travel vouchers and reports. Organizes and maintains files on areas under the Tax Attaché's responsibility and prepares briefs on status of projects as instructed by the Tax Attaché. Reviews source data and information, suggest trends, and reviews reports of progress in accomplishing the mission of the office. Discusses status of reports with supervisor. Primarily responsible for development of reports as required by Tax Attaché. Types correspondence, memos, reports, or verbal responses concerning assigned areas of responsibility. The incumbent must also maintain project control files making suggestions for improvement as necessary. Organizes and maintains files on areas under the Tax Attaché's responsibility and prepares briefs on status of projects as instructed by the Tax Attaché. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis. You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR GS-06: You must have one year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) in the Federal government. Specialized experience is experience that is directly related to the work of this position and has provided you with the competencies required for successful job performance. Examples of qualifying experience include experience gathering and compiling available data and information for aspects of a program and reporting findings to higher level employees; monitoring and reviewing established operations and interrelationships with other functions regarding workflow, work redundancy, or systemic problems; verifying completeness and accuracy of controls to ensure compliance with established procedures; and using word processing, spreadsheet and database software to prepare documents and to enter, revise, manipulate, sort, calculate, store, and retrieve data. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR GS-07: You must have one year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) in the Federal government. Specialized experience is experience that is directly related to the work of this position and has provided you with the competencies required for successful job performance. Examples of qualifying experience include experience identifying problems and probable causes for solutions; researching and gathering pertinent statistics or information, reports findings to a higher level employees and may recommend corrective action for aspects of a program or function; experience revising procedures and controls; drafting memoranda, preliminary reports, and charts showing findings or recommendations; using word processing, database and spreadsheet software to prepare documents and to enter, revise, manipulate, sort, calculate, store and retrieve data. AND MEET TIME IN GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT: You must meet applicable TIG requirements to be considered eligible. To meet TIG for positions above the GS-05 grade level, you must have served at least one year (52 weeks) at the next lower grade (or equivalent) in the normal line of progression for the position you are applying to. Advancement to positions up to GS-05 is permitted if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade held within the preceding 52 weeks. AND TIME AFTER COMPETITIVE APPOINTMENT: By the closing date (or if this is an open continuous announcement, by the cut-off date) specified in this job announcement, current civilian employees must have completed at least 90 days of federal civilian service since their latest non-temporary appointment from a competitive referral certificate, known as time after competitive appointment. For this requirement, a competitive appointment is one where you applied to and were appointed from an announcement open to "All US Citizens". Education

A copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected. If the position has specific education requirements and you currently hold, or have previously held, a position in the same job series with the IRS, there is no need to submit a transcript or equivalent at this time. Applicants are encouraged, but are not required, to submit an SF-50 documenting experience in a specific series. A college or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
