This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Communications Command in Chesapeake, VA.

Duties

This position serves as a Security Specialist and Account Alternate for the Mid-Atlantic Regional COMSEC Office.  This position is that of the Communications Security (COMSEC) Equipment Manager Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) Account Alternate and is responsible for ordering, accounting for, distributing and managing classified keying material equipment and other COMSEC materials and maintaining all software upgrades to equipment.Being a CG civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Qualifications

To Qualify for the GS-08: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 grade level in the federal service.  Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include:  Experience with general security administration programs and policy requirements in order to identify and report conflicts in procedural issues; installing equipment, providing operating instructions (written and verbal), service maintenance, and replacement of defective secure communications equipment; preparing procurement requisitions for approval, working closely with the Logistics Officer to acquire requisition numbers for embedded cryptographic material; maintaining mail, consumable supplies for an office to remain effectual in a fiscal environment. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.  If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
