Salary: $37 - 43 per hour

About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.

Duties

Determine work methods and techniques to be used in the machining of parts. Plan weekly and monthly work schedules, sequence of operations for subordinates. Serve as the technical and administrative supervisor over the Component Machining Division branch exercising full supervisory responsibility over work operations. Investigate work related problems (e.g., low productivity) to identify causes and implements those corrective actions that can be taken within the limits of incumbent's authority. Develop and prepare sketches either from oral or written instructions. Use precision measuring instruments to ensure all equipment are in good working conditions according to specifications and safety requirements.

  • A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Toolmaker Supervisor without more than normal supervision. I can establish deadlines and priorities on the basis of general work schedules and methods and policies established by higher levels of supervision. Sets up and operates specialized and precision machines to construct, repair, maintain and calibrate tools, jigs, fixtures, dies, punches and gages. Repairs and calibrates small arms gages and fixtures. Repairs, modifies, and fabricates industrial equipment such as dynameters, test cells for the testing and repair of engines and transmissions. Applies working knowledge of metals and alloys used in the toolmaker trade. Determines how many assignments can be done concurrently, which ones must be delayed, and the number and types of employees needed, considering skills, personnel materials, and equipment available and required. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
