Duties

If selected for this position you will serve as the district Litigation Support Manager responsible for providing technical and analytical assistance involving Litigation Support (LS) and two or more other IT specialty areas which support the information management needs of the United States Attorney's office (USAO). Typical duties will include: Performs litigation support tasks associated with day-to-day operation of the USAO LS systems. These duties include a variety of information technology support to meet USAO information needs utilizing network hardware and software capabilities, including specialty LS software; Performs complex LS systems design, development, test, and implementation of substantially new applications to meet specialized needs of the USAO; Designs, documents, develops, tests, installs, and implements new LS software; Plans and designs new and improved information systems to meet the needs of customer requirements; Plans, creates and coordinates litigation support services in response to customer needs; Maintains district-wide responsibility for testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, implementation, maintenance and management of LS resources used for the transmission of information in data, voice and/or video format; Ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools; Developing, testing, and implementing internet, intranet, and extranet LS and IT activities, including technical management of websites. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Qualifications

Basic Requirement: For each grade level, qualifying experience must demonstrate possession of each of the following competencies: Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work until provides, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and respond appropriately. Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. GS-12: To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include: assisting attorneys with preparing, reviewing, and organizing electronic data; utilizing Automated Litigative Software (ALS) for reviewing and organizing case information before trial and for trial presentations; providing IT customer support in troubleshooting; recovering and resolving recurring software/hardware problems; maintaining and controlling equipment inventories; installing, configuring, and upgrading commonly used hardware and software systems; by overseeing the installation of IT equipment in courtroom settings (e.g. monitors, headphones, cables, computers, etc.); and utilizing automated case tracking systems such as Caseview and/or PACER. GS-13: To be eligible at the GS-13 level, you must have at least one-year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include: providing Information Technology (IT) concepts, methods, standards, and practices as they relate to automated Litigation Support functions, i.e., trial preparation and presentation; developing and managing Litigation Support systems that meet current and future needs; and providing input into litigation support planning and policy activities; providing technical advice on systems capabilities; designing complex databases and automating processes; electronic data acquisition and processing. Specialized experience in the IT environment includes personal computers, a wide area network (hubs, switches, bridges, routers, firewall, and VPNs), operating systems, telecommunications, enterprise voice over the internet protocol, secure mobility solutions, information security, case management systems and automated litigation support solutions.
