Duties

Plans, organizes, and manages the activities of the section/unit, ensuring that the courses taught comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs. Manages the 91st MXG Training Program. Develops the MXG Training Plan. Acquires Education and Training Materials and conducts various training courses for assigned maintenance group personnel

  • Instructing CPR and SABC requires instructor certification.

  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • Requires some physical exertion which may include at times such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, slippery, and/or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, kneeling, stretching, pushing, pulling (CONT'D)
  • (CONT'D) reaching; and recurring lifting and carrying of moderately heavy items (occasionally items up to 50 pounds). Requires specific but common physical characteristics and abilities, such as above average agility and dexterity.
  • Work is performed in a classroom environment that involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety instructions. (CONT'D)
  • (CONT'D) Work is usually performed in an adequately lighted and ventilated office environment. Employee may be required to work in an outside environment at times.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Training Instruction Series 1712 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s). Supervising or administering a training program. Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results. Work in missile maintenance that required training or instructing others on a regular basis. OR EDUCATION: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. Note: must submit copy of transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Combination of specialized experience as described above and graduate level education described above. Note: must submit copy of transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in­-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of ICBM maintenance procedures, services, databases, regulations, and missile maintenance related diagrams/schematics in order to identify training requirements, skill upgrades, and development programs that will assist in meeting the Maintenance Group management objectives. Knowledge of a wide range of the principles and practical methods, techniques, and tools of instruction to teach a variety of students with a range of differences such as diverse ages, backgrounds, and levels of interest. Knowledge of the military and civilian training program processes, or training program processes in parallel business and industry organizations in order to develop a comprehensive training program. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulation, practices, and procedures. Skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to programs and issues involved in training programs. Ability to plan, organize, meet deadlines, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to independently plan, coordinate and organize work to identify problems and develop innovative solutions. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
