Duties

1. Plans, organizes, oversees and assists the director/chief in the management of all administrative support program functions and unit level activities. 2. Serve as the subject matter expert for all mandated administrative support programs and analysis activities. 3. Provides technical guidance and recommendations to senior leadership regarding unit deployment program and serves as the organizational point of contact and liaison with the personnel flight on military and civilian personnel issues. 4. Ensures personnel and equipment readiness. 5. Performs other clerical and administrative work in support of the office/organization.

  • This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • The actual work performed in this position has been reviewed and determined that it does not meet any of the exemption criteria defined in 5 CFR 551. This position has been designated as nonexempt.

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have, or will have within 120 days of the closing of this announcement, at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes overseeing, planning and advising on administrative support functions in various programs and units in order to ensure personnel and equipment readiness. OR EDUCATION: master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-­grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of methods, procedures, and skills in evaluating and performing deployment operations to identify and meet deployment requirements. 2. Knowledge of the organizational and functional responsibilities and operations of an organization. 3. Knowledge of established safety and occupational health principles, practices, procedures, laws, and regulations related to the safety program, risk assessment methods, and techniques for evaluating occupational safety and health risks. 4. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs. 5. Ability to identify, analyze, and present facts, translate complex information, make appropriate judgments, evaluate options concerning unit readiness, communicate effectively, using tact and courtesy and posses the ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines. 6. Ability to recognize the inter-relationships of various aspects of operating programs to integrate and analyze information to evaluate overall program status. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
