About the position: This position will be assigned to the 47th Force Support Squadron, located at Outdoor Recreation, Laughlin AFB, Del Rio, Texas. This position is Flexible, guaranteed a minimum of 0 hours but can work up to a maximum of 40 hours per week. May include nights, weekends and holidays. As a flexible employee, you are not eligible for leave or benefits.

Duties

Under the supervision of the Outdoor Recreation Supervisor, plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates a wide array of year-round outdoor recreational activities/programs including but not limited to: Recharge for Resiliency (R4R), Single Airmen Program Initiative (SAPI), Outdoor Adventure Programs; water or land-based activities; and other instructional programs. Program plans must include risk assessment, comprehensive itineraries, and a process for obtaining customer comments and suggestions. Recommends new programming activities, to include type of format and resources the activity would require. Gathers information from a number of different sources, including past programs and current popular programs in other communities. Evaluates the information and makes a judgement on what meets the needs of the specific clientele groups.. Assists in promoting marketing strategies. Performs day to day budget management actions such as tracking funds distribution, reconciling commitment/obligation, and real locating assigned program funds. Prepares and maintains data necessary to support short and long range APF and NAF budgets. Assists ODR supervisor in assigning duties for Outdoor Adventure Program guides and volunteers, assigns and reviews work, provides training for program staff to ensure adequate skills in emergency procedures and in customer relations. Assists in developing detailed annual/quarterly adventure programs based upon site surveys and customer input. Establishes calendars, confirms itineraries, obtains permits/tickets where applicable, plans and conducts post/pre-departure meeting with participants, drivers, volunteers, plans menus and purchases food, ensures after action reports are completed. Coordinates special group programs on an as needed basis to include self-guided programs and professional (contracted) guided programs. Coordinates on site educational and recreational programs. Performs administrative tasks such as preparing after action reports, sending program information to customers, responsible for compiling and responding to customer critiques and comment cards, maintains program records. Assists in maintaining facility to meet operational standards. Works with other staff members, volunteers and/or individual/personal services contract personnel. May provide available information and assist patrons in selecting and furthering their interest in the respective areas. In absence of ODR supervisor will ensure daily operations are met. Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Progressive experience in planning, organizing, conducting and evaluating outdoor adventure programs or other practical experience which has provided a working familiarity and knowledge of the procedures and programs followed in group activities of a recreation program is desired. Must possess skill in dealing with public. Must be able to work being exposed to a variety of cold or hot weather. Must possess the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle with attached trailer. Must possess a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record with no major violations. Availability to work uncommon work schedule including weekends and holidays. Position is a position of trust and is subject to satisfactory completion of an installation, State Criminal, and Tier I background. This is a drug testing designation position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements.
