Duties

If selected for this position, you will serve as a Supervisory Legal Administrative Specialist, responsible for performing a variety of complex legal administration tasks relating to the management and legal support of the Fort Worth Branch Office. Typical work assignments will include: Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets goals and priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. Assigns work based on difficulty of assignments and staff capabilities. Evaluates work performance of subordinates. Advises employees of the performance requirements of their positions, completes midyear progress review reports, and prepares the annual performance appraisal for each employee. Evaluate current office systems on the legal support side of the office and proposes new or alternative procedures to improve the effectiveness of work methods, utilization of manpower, use of equipment, distribution of work assignments, caseload management, changes in priorities, workflow, and systems development for the attorney and support staff. Performs a variety of administrative work to meet the operational needs of the assigned areas. Research and coordinates information needed by attorney supervisors, division chiefs, the Administrative Officer, and/or top management for reporting purposes and develops special reports as required. Advises and supports litigation teams by acting as a subject matter expert in identifying and implementing appropriate technical solutions to manage commonly found and complex or nonstandard electronically stored information in civil and/or criminal cases.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation

  • If selected, you will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a one year supervisory or managerial probationary period unless this requirement has been met previously.

Qualifications

To be qualified, you must have at least one year of specialized experience exercising equivalent to the GS-12 level. Specialized experience is defined as: experience involving opening, maintaining, and closing case files; organizing voluminous case data; adding case events and other information into the case management system; versatile and innovative in responding to unanticipated changes in judicial and/or administrative law, policy, or program direction; Planning and assigning work to subordinates based on difficulty of assignments and capabilities and Providing guidance on time and attendance and performance management.
