Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for Information Technology support for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Typical work assignments will include:

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: In order to meet basic qualifications for GS-2210 positions, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the competencies defined below: Attention to Detail - This skill is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant keeps abreast of latest technology, information, research, etc., to maintain knowledge in field of expertise (for example, reads trade journals, participates in professional/technical associations, maintains credentials). Customer Service - This skill is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant promotes or develops and maintains good working relationships with key individuals or groups. Oral Communication - This skill is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant serves on panels, committees, or task forces as a representative for the organization on technical or professional issues. Problem Solving - This skill is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant monitors current trends or events (for example, technological, economic, political, social, educational, or employment trends or events) and applies the information as appropriate. In addition to demonstrating the basic qualifications listed above, applicants must also demonstrate possession of specialized experience. GS-12: To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must meet one full year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level. Specialized Experience: Qualifying experience demonstrates configuring, installing, or managing network systems; installing Windows based servers and maintaining existing servers; assessing Information Technology policy needs; establishing metrics to measure and evaluate systems performance; performing network diagnostics and resolving network problems; maintaining network architecture and infrastructure; installing and maintaining compatible database systems; and develops training to meet customer needs. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy.
