About the Position: Ft. Meade is located between two major cities, Baltimore and Washington D.C., and approximately 11 minutes from an International Airport. Ft. Meade is a hub for the joint services, Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines & Navy. In addition to many recreational activities, you can tour the historical sites of Annapolis; visit the White House in Washington, D.C.; or attend a football, basketball or baseball game with one of professional and college teams in the area.

Duties

Performs transportation services for active duty military personnel, reserve components, and Department of Defense civilians in connection with processing authorized personal property shipment/storage entitlements paid for at government expense. Conducts individual/mass counseling sessions on an appointment and emergency walk-in basis, informing members of the entitlements and responsibilities related to the shipment/storage of personal property/household goods/privately owned vehicles etc. Verifies and signs a variety of transportation documents as Ordering Officer for the Transportation Officer. Maintains shipment records, prepares and processes shipping and storage documents using the automated transportation system(s). Screens movement orders for correct funding appropriation and citation, member entitlements and authorization for shipment. Reviews completed applications to ensure precision. Composes and deliveries correspondence, messages, etc. relative to shipments of household goods. Provides Do it Yourself (DITTY) / Personally Procured Move (PPM) entitlement briefs to all active duty members retiring or separating. Serves as a Transportation Agent for the Transportation Officer by signing routine, recurring correspondence. May perform quality control and inspection functions for personal property packing, shipment, warehouse and storage operations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • Personnel security investigation required.
  • One-year trial/probationary period may be required.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
