Duties

If selected for this position, you will be responsible for independently providing planning, designing, executing, and supervising Information Technology (IT) programs, projects, and work involving a variety of IT specialist areas which support the information management needs of the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Typical work assignments may include, but are not limited to: Providing leadership, developing, evaluating, and improving IT support to promote overall district effectiveness and efficiency. Managing/distributing workload, participating in the hiring process, resolving grievances and complaints, developing performance plans, and counseling employees regarding their progress. Providing customer support services including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance, and training. Performing advanced and complex informational systems design, development, test, and implementation of new applications to meet the needs of the United States Attorney. Monitoring network capacity and performance. Performing network diagnostics and resolves network problems. Performing tasks associated with the day-to-day operation. Responsibilities will increase, and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • If selected, you will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a one year supervisory or managerial probationary period unless this requirement has been met previously.
  • Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.

Qualifications

Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification(s). Individuals must have IT-related experience and training demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Attention to Detail: Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work until provides, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and respond appropriately. Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND GS-13 Specialized Experience: At least ONE full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service, which is in or related to work in the Information Technology (IT) field and demonstrates possession of each of the following competencies: Attention to Detail; Customer Service, Oral Communications; and Problem Solving. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples of specialized experience include: evaluating and resolving hardware and software problems; providing user training and assistance on variety of routine applications; planning and improving information systems to meet the needs of customer requirements; troubleshooting end user computer hardware and software issues; configuring, installing, and maintaining networked systems including hubs, routers, switches, bridges, servers, workstation and mobile device troubleshooting and support, and related hardware; maintaining systems accounts with various enterprise software programs. Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP)-The CTAP provides eligible surplus and displaced competitive service employees in the Department of Justice with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
