The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Technical Training Instructor performing technical training instructor classroom activities, supporting course development, modification, and revision efforts in enlisted initial skills, and/or supplemental Technical Training courses utilizing approved curriculum IAW Air Education and Training Command instructions.

Duties

Instructs students through assigned blocks of instruction at basic levels in the Information Technology Fundamentals courses. Acts as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Information Technology Fundamentals course materials to help ensure students meet career field training requirements. Plans, develops, executes, and evaluates a comprehensive and effective training program. Maintains professional and technical proficiency and accomplishes special projects related to specialty area, to include staff surveillance visits to various training activities.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions +IOR, Administrative and Management Positions, GS-1712 series. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: ** This is a CCAF Position** For Community College of the Air Force GS-1712 positions only: Section 9315 of 10 USC directs the commander of the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) to comply with standards established by the Secretary of Education to confer associate degrees upon enlisted members who have completed the requirements for the prescribed programs of study. To comply with this directive, all faculty members of the Community College of the Air Force must meet minimum educational requirements as prescribed by the accrediting body Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC), i.e. accreditation criteria. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: Practical knowledge of a wide range of conventional concepts, principles, and practices associated with training program management sufficient to independently develop, conduct, and evaluate difficult, but well-precedented formal and informal training programs. Prepares, maintains, and presents diverse material; maintains classroom decorum; and ensures supplies, equipment, and classrooms are available for training. Makes adjustments in presentations or instructional methods to resolve difficult classroom problems. Knowledge of the subject of Information Technology Fundamentals sufficient to operate as a subject matter expert and to present course materials. Skills in organization and communication to develop working relationships and administer programs with diverse military, civilian, professional, and technical populations to include verbal and writing skills to prepare presentations and/or briefings. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed a masters or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B or J.D., if related with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of the methods, principles, practices, and programs related to curriculum development, instructional techniques, and training resources, as well as the principles, techniques, and objectives of test and measurement. 2. Knowledge of Information Technology Fundamentals at a practical level to include the design, development, coding, maintenance, testing, configuration management, and documentation of network systems, client systems, and web-enabled software. 3. Knowledge of a wide range of the principles and practical methods, techniques, and tools of IT Fundamentals to teach a variety of students with a range of differences such as diverse ages, backgrounds, and levels of interest. 4. Skill in accomplishing special training studies and projects. 5. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships. 6. Ability to analyze problems and develop appropriate solutions. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
