You will serve as a Marine Machinery Mechanic Supervisor II in the Production Resources Dept, Mechanical Shop (Code 930) of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Duties

You will plan, assign and coordinate the critical aspects of the shop's non-nuclear mechanical work that involves manufacture, overhaul, refit, conversion and repair of submarine, surface craft and non-ship work. You will supervise the day-to-day work operations of several work groups. You will improve work processes and utilizes manpower and material resources. You will be accountable for ensuring that manpower and material costs are directly linked to program/mission objectives, that expenditures remain within approved budget levels. You will supervise employees through subordinate supervisors and assign/explain overall objectives, work requirements, deadlines, etc. You will Determines manpower/resources required to meet planned workload and plan the allocation of manpower /resources to subordinate work groups. You will evaluate work operations through reports on completed work, inspection, etc., to identify trends or other indicators of poor or excellent performance. You will determine the organization's overall needs to meet longer range work plans and develops plans to meet those needs. You will compare existing manpower/resources to the planned workload and recommends changes to the general work schedules, if necessary, or adjustments to planned manpower/resource requirements. You will recommend changes in specification requirements, work techniques and standards, and improvement of equipment, facility layout, and workflow.

  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
