About the Position: This is a permanent Security Specialist (Force Protection) position located at Shaw AFB, SC. Incumbent serves as the Senior Security Specialist for Antiterrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) for US Army Central.

Duties

Incumbent serves as a Senior Security Specialist within the USARCENT/Coalition Forces Land Component Command (CFLCC) Operational Protection Directorate. Evaluates the effectiveness of proposed projects and initiatives to ensure they achieve the desired result. Responsible for reviewing, evaluating and prioritizing AT/FP related security projects and other initiatives. Studies, analyzes, and develops ways to improve the accuracy, adequacy, timeliness, and validity of AT/FP data. Serves as focal point for receipt and processing of requests for technical deviations and security waivers. Conduct AT/FP assessments, vulnerability analyses, and risk management. Prepare and submit Command Protection related funding requirements for the five-year Program Objective Memorandum (POM). Process Command Protection related funding requirements using Management Decision Packages (MDEPS) to the command.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Top Secret/Special Sensitive/SCI clearance required.

  • One-year probationary period may be required if not already completed in accordance with 5 CFR criteria.
  • This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) developing, planning, and advising on force protection operational policy, budget, and related administrative and doctrinal guidance; 2) presenting force protection training and assessments; 3) performing physical security assessments and inspections to safeguard facilities and material; and 4) determining security eligibility of personnel utilizing various automated security programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of the work performed at the next lower level (GS-11) Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, no substitution of experience is allowed. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Planning and EvaluatingSecurityTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
