You will serve as a Logistics Management Specialist in the Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV. This position is within the Mission Systems Group, in PMA-272 and supports the FEWG as Electronic Warfare Logistics Management Specialist (LMS). This announcement uses the Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.

Duties

You will participate in the design and development of new systems by assessing the supportability and maintainability of proposed systems and technology applications. You will develop and implement the support and maintenance concepts for assigned systems. You will perform cost analysis and life cycle costing studies for assigned systems. You will review and justify requirements for new support facilities and plans the activation of system support sites. You interface with internal and external contacts to exchange information, resolve conflicts, prove and justify significant deviations from established logistics policy, and defend necessary modifications to previously approved plans, etc.

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Examples of specialized experience include: 1) Applying working knowledge of theory, concepts, principles and practices of logistics management in order to serve as an expert in a full range of integrated logistics support; 2) Reviewing budget submissions during all of the life cycle phases, ensuring support requirements are identified and adequately priced; 3) Assisting in developing contracts and contract modifications for the acquisition of logistics supportability products; 4) Participating in the development of maintenance plans; and 5) Preparing and presenting oral and written presentations to prove and justify deviations from established logistics policy, defend modifications to previously approved plans, and resolve other major problems involving conflicts with other projects/programs.
