You will serve as a Lead Regional Emergency Response Dispatcher (OA) in the Commander, Navy Installations of COMMANDER NAVY REGION MARIANAS.

Duties

You will maintain current knowledge of operations and answer questions of other employees on procedures, policies, directives, etc. You will distribute and balance workload among employes. Instructs shift employes in specific duties and job techniques and ensures all policies and regulations are followed. You will receive emergency and non-emergency requests by telephone, mobile radio, mobile data computers or automatic alarms throughout the Navy Region. You will screen incoming communications and prioritize emergency/non­emergency calls and situations making immediate decisions during emergency situations regarding initial deployment of personnel. You will receive, analyze, and disseminate information from an unlimited number of contacts for: calls of distress, requests for non-emergency assistance, informational inquiries, official notifications, and administrative communications. You will utilize computer database to access and secure security areas, recall logged events, track and relay information on special operations updating response criteria as required. You will track location of assigned units, alarm testing in progress, and status of emergency responses.

  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.
  • You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment acknowledging receipt and understanding of the statement of living and working conditions for this location.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to be trained as a Telecommunicator, trained to perform NC IC /NLETS/III criminal history checks, and certified in Emergency Medical Dispatch.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • You will be required to successfully complete the RDC Training Program within 8 months of reporting aboard to include classroom and On-The-Job Training (OJT).

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Manages the processing and coordinating of multiple requests and daily functions including making swift changes in organization of work or assignment to improve workflow and services rendered as incidents unfold and operating various systems such as: Emergency Radio, Enhanced-911 (E-911), Enterprise Land Mobile Radio (ELMR), Telecommunication Devices for the Deaf (TDD) systems to respond and communicate to law enforcement, fire, medical, and hazmat emergencies. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
