About the Position: Serves as the primary logistician of the U.S. Army Sustainment University (ASU) and as supervisor exercising administrative and technical authority over employees engaged in a variety of logistical functions to include but not limited to supply support operations, property and inventory management, acquisition, issue/turn-in, document control, and the informal property support necessary for the efficient functioning of the administrative and technical elements for ASU.

Duties

Analyze policies and directives from higher command for implementation into local policies and procedures. Inform employees on the policies, procedures, and practices of management as they relate to the work of the branch. Perform financial management and operational review and analysis of expendable and durable acquisitions directing necessary adjustments. Maintain professional working relationships and communication with representatives of other sections.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes interpreting and applying distribution management policies and procedures; resolving conflicting issues concerning supply management operations; and preparing inventory lists and adjusting property records as required to ensure accuracy. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical)Inventory ManagementManages Human ResourcesPlanning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
