The primary purpose of this position is to Serve as the first level supervisor and foreman to manage full performance level work in constructing, installing, repairing, modifying and performing preventative maintenance on all facilities with a wide range of construction trades which include painting, sign making, sheet metal & welding, carpentry, roofing, masonry.

Duties

1. Plans on a weekly or monthly basis the use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials in an organizational segment or group. 2. Assigns work to individuals and provides technical direction and/or help in accomplishing difficult work steps and processes within and between differing trades. 3. Ensures education in, compliance with, and practice of security directives, good safety, and health habits in all work areas 4. Supervises numerous trade technicians who install, modify, overhaul, repair, perform preventative maintenance, and maintain a variety of complex structures. 5. Participates with employees in the development of performance plans. Advises employees in advance of performance expectations and explains new work techniques, as required

  • Employee will be required to support Base Readiness and Emergency Operations Exercises and Real World Threats and Events.
  • Employee will be required to support Special Events (i.e. Annual Air Show, Base Exercises) not necessarily performing in their primary skill code.
  • Employee will be required to augment the Civil Engineering Snow Removal Team not necessarily performing in their primary skill code. Employee would be trained on safe snow shoveling and snow removal
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
  • The work will require the employee to carry an electronic beeper or cell phone
  • This position meets the executive exemption criteria for the Fair Labor Standards Act (5 CFR 551.205).
  • May be required to train/guide other employees.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-4700 General Maintenance And Operations Work Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is Ability To Lead Or Supervise JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprinting reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Materials Ideal candidate: Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) supervised and personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/ Equal Employment Treatment. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
