About the Position: This position is located at This position is located at USAJFK Special Warfare Center & School, Assistant Chief of Staff, at Fort Liberty, North Carolina. Fort Liberty is a culturally diverse area with both rural and city populations, co-located at Fayetteville, North Carolina, centrally located in the beautiful state of North Carolina, which enjoys a temperate year-round climate and world-renowned colleges and universities.

Duties

Exercise technical knowledge in the organization and maintenance of the network for the SWCS community which includes buildings on Fort Liberty and remotely throughout the USASOC enterprise both CONUS and OCONUS. Consult with representatives of other organizations elements and their respective engineering staff for the purpose of exchanging technical information relative to networking and network design. Manage Group Policy Objects. Establishes and maintains policies for the LANGNET, NIPR, SIPR and critical member servers. Manage and maintain operating system (OS) roles on DCs (e.g., Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Windows Internet Naming Service (WINS), remote access and Virtual Private Network (VPN). Perform security scans on domain members, using approved tools to determine, troubleshoot and resolve problems. Provide leadership in the performance of customer site surveys to assist customers in determining their needs and requirements with network software and hardware.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment Drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health an ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • Requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain the CCNP certification within 6 months of employment; Certification requirements - Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).
  • Required to obtain IT Certifications as required by DoD 8570.1-M within six months of appointment.

Specialized and Other Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes utilizing information technology networking software/hardware and application to implement both wide area and local area networks. Configuring software and hardware to meet user requirements and Managing hardware, software and computer operating procedures including advanced computer commands to operate microcomputer systems. 1). Identify and formulate solutions to technical and procedural network problems to improve its operations and service to users. 2). Ability to exercise technical knowledge in the management and maintenance of the network for the organization's community. 3). Develop and implement configuration management plans for complex LANS and WANS. 4). Provide leadership in the performance of customer site surveys to assist customers in determining their needs and requirements with network software and hardware. 5). Work closely with assigned information assurance personnel to ensure timely posting of all approved security updates. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined: (1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
