About the Position: This position is within the Directorate of Medicine, Dermatology Service at Womack Army Medical Center, located in Fort Liberty, North Carolina. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Obtain information from patient and/or family to identify major complaints, symptoms, or reason for seeking health care. Assist the physician with various examinations and diagnostic procedures. Perform routine procedures, such as EKGs, eye, throat, nasal and/or wound cultures, dressing changes, ear irrigation, and application of bandages. Input data into the computer and retrieve information such as laboratory and diagnostic procedure results. Administer oral, intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular immunizations within the health clinic. Review laboratory results and bring abnormal results to the attention of the physician and per physician’s instructions, telephone patients regarding any follow-up care that is required. Assist provider with interventional pain procedures within a medical clinic.

• This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain a favorable result from a National Agency Background Check.
• You must undergo a specific initial background checks, investigation and periodic re-verification check of multiple agency records to obtain and maintain a suitable determination to occupy a position having regular contact with children.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• This position requires lifting up to 50 lbs.
• This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
• This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
• This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
• Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
• This position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Other advanced certification does not supersede Basic Life Support completion.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a current Practical (Vocational) licensure with no limitations, stipulations or pending adverse actions in a state or territory of the United States or the District of Columbia.
• Must be able to participate in continuing education programs to maintain skills and knowledge to meet annual requirements for the state of licensure.
• This position requires the incumbent to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.

Non-licensed candidates who have completed their training may be appointed subject to obtaining the required license during the probationary period. No person appointed pending licensure may be retained beyond the probationary period if licensure has not been attained. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirement listed below: Experience: One year of nursing experience in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical, nursing, or patient care facility that provided a practical knowledge of human body structure and sterile techniques and procedures, performing such duties as measuring patient's vital signs; administering immunizations or medications via various routes; screening or updating patient medical records; and performing routine procedures. This definition of experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
