This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Deputy Command for Mission Support, Operation Logistics Command, Office of Personnel and Reserve Force Readiness (LOG-1) in Norfolk, VA.

Duties

This position is in the US Coast Guard, Deputy Commandant Mission Support (DCMS) Organization, Operational Logistics Command (LOGCOM), Norfolk, VA in the office of Personnel and Reserve Force Readiness (LOG-1). Provides direct operational support to LOGCOM, Chief of Staff, Command Master Chiefs, Division Chiefs, Selected Reserve (SELRES), and support for the Deputy Commandant for Mission Support (DCMS) Selected Reserve. Serves as a management analyst, identifying and validating LOGCOM/DCMS reserve resource shortfalls and/or potential gaps in reserve availability, competency, and readiness, and assisting the Division Chief in determining strategies for reserve and/or resource gaps during steady state and contingency response.

Qualifications

At the GS-11 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the federal service.  Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience must demonstrate:  Assist with studies to identify, analyze, and recommend solutions to problems to improve program operations.  Using qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques and statistics to assess the efficiency of work performance, processes, systems, and support programs. Assisting in liaison functions with other organizations, including effectively presenting the organization needs and establishing harmonious working relations with counterparts; and Assisting in the planning of special studies to develop short- and long-range goals and objectives to support the organizational missions. OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.  If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
