The Laundry Worker Supervisor is located in the Environmental Management Service at the Carl Vinson VAMC, Dublin, GA. The incumbent is responsible for the functioning of the linen and laundry services throughout the medical center. The incumbent will ensure that daily linen needs are met and that the quality of the linens is to the departmental standards.

Duties

Duties include but not limited to the following: Performs a sequence of tasks that require skill judgment and closer attention to accuracy. Requires the ability to exercise judgement and to carry out a sequence of tasks that are completed with a higher level of attention and accuracy. Responsible for assigning work or projects, supervising workers directly or indirectly in order to accomplish work operations, planning the use of workers on a day to day or project by project basis; recommend changes to schedules, priorities, and work sequences as deemed necessary and make minor deviations to the procedures in order to overcome material delays or unplanned absences. The supervisor has the responsibility of directly or indirectly assigning assignments through the subordinate leader in order to accomplish the work of the organization. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that the sanitation requirements are met for the area assigned through the requesting, receiving, and sorting of soiled and cleaned linens, uniforms and patient clothing; and delivering clean laundry to the various sections throughout the campus. Responsible for keeping accurate records of all transactions; maintaining adequate stock levels and ensuring adequate laundry exchange with the contractor. Coordinates linen deliveries with the linen contractor to ensure adequate linen is available at all delivery points within the medical center and is responsible for oversight of the medical waste handler and the regulated medical waste and sharps replacement/ removal contracts. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: All duties are performed while standing, walking, bending or stopping on a concrete floor. Moderate to heavy lifting is required while loading and unloading laundry carts, stacks of linens and uniforms. Physical condition of the employee must be good. The employee must be alert and be able to constantly use both hands. Good footwork and good eyesight are also required.
