Duties

Serves as an Operations Specialist, advisor, and member of a General Officer level command staff team responsible for planning, communicating, and executing major operations and events. Develop and/or advise on operations-related plans, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Represents the organization at meetings dealing with assigned functional areas and coordinates and collaborates with key personnel/stakeholders Supports execution of contingency and emergency operations and exercises; and assists in the development of appropriate plans, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • This position requires a Non-Critical Sensitive Secret security clearance.
  • This position requires a one-year probationary period.

Current Department of Army Civilian Employees Applying on Time-Limited Assignments In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) tracking/managing operational taskers for an organization and 2) developing organizational planning documents/reports, such as Operation Orders (OPORD), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Operations Plans (OP Plans) and Contingency of Operations Plans (COOP). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: CommunicationsComplianceTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 3 years by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted.
