About the Position: This position is located at Dworshak Dam and Reservoir, Ahsahka, ID, a multi-purpose hydropower project, with missions that include operation and maintenance of the facility for flood control, hydroelectric power generation, recreation and natural resources management. Incentives may be authorized. This is a fulltime seasonal position.

Duties

Collects and records data. Review satellite data from aerial images to determine if forestry areas need closer inspection. Uses Geographic Information System (GIS) to review and create maps for forestry related work. Inspect timber harvesting contract areas for contract compliance. Conduct scheduled and special inspections of project boundary lines to prevent and/or document encroachments or other unauthorized uses of project land and natural resources. Patrol project lands and waters, directs vehicular and pedestrian traffic, maintain crowd control, and issues verbal or written warnings or violation notices.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a valid state issued driver's license.
  • Must be able to obtain a USACE boat operator license within 1 year of employment.
  • This is a seasonal position.
  • This position required heavy lifting up to 50lbs.
  • A pre-employment physical is required.

OR To qualify based on your education, you must have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with a major study in forestry, range management, agriculture, or a subject-matter field directly related to the position, or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses in forestry, agriculture, crop or plant science, range management or conservation, wildlife management, watershed management, soil science, natural resources (except marine fisheries and oceanography), outdoor recreation management, civil or forest engineering, or wildland fire science No more than 6 semester hours in mathematics is creditable. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
