About the Position: This position is located within the Human Resources Division, Military Personnel, Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Fort Cavazos, Texas. The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative and technical expertise, support and knowledge as it pertains to military personnel processes and procedures.

Duties

Provide administrative and technical expertise, support, and knowledge of military personnel processes and procedures. Monitor and manage a variety of military personnel action requests, including correspondence and document control management. Brief and train staff officers, directors, commanders and chief on military personnel programs. Responsible for tracking personnel actions and reporting off duty employment requirements. Provide guidance and assistance to military personnel on the full spectrum of military personnel actions and management. Develop and prepare reports, documentation, and correspondence to support actions and recommendations. Assist in the processing and completion of travel orders and reimbursements for military personnel. Prepare Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs) in accordance with Army guidelines and establish and maintain office administration files. Utilize military personnel databases to input, extract, query, and research data.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • A favorable National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI), Tier 1 is required for this position.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) providing technical support on the review and processing of military personnel actions, such as; pay, promotion, evaluations, retirements and separations, 2) utilizing automated systems to enter and maintain military service records, 3) applying appropriate military regulations and procedures to perform support of department activities, and 4) composing a variety of correspondence and reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
