This position is in located in Everglades National Park, in the South Florida Natural Resource Division. Open to the first 100 applicants or until 05/20/2024 whichever comes first. Duties

The incumbent supports the South Florida Natural Resources Center Restoration Sciences Branch Water Quality Team by performing a variety of functions related to the following general areas: Environmental Considerations. The incumbent participates in formulating recommendations to the responsible management officials on the use, management and development of park resources. In fulfilling this role, the incumbent is responsible for data compilation and analyses, plan preparation, report generation, position papers, and policy statements and memorandums. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Organization and management of the planning, environmental review and public involvement process for assigned projects as an interdisciplinary team leader or member. Analysis of management requirements and information needs resulting in a recommended planning strategy (process, format, participants and required data). Acquisition and analysis of data from field observation, literature review and consultant sources. Determines compliance pathway for a wide variety of planning efforts and projects including categorical exclusions (CE), environmental assessments (EA), and environmental impacts statements (EIS).Develops and implements integrated programs (i.e., solid waste management, etc) including developing budgets, assessing existing conditions, planning for future needs, developing alternative strategies to reduce costs, increasing efficiencies and reducing environmental impacts, and allocating resources for implementation.

Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-05/20/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-12 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: Applied knowledge of environmental regulations and legislation based on information in the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, Clean Water Act, or other similar sources; applied knowledge of a wide range of ecological, biological, and geological concepts through technical reports and/or journal publications surrounding landscape scale environmental protection or restoration; demonstrated application of statistical analyses that utilize multiple techniques to assess watershed environmental response and generate significant recommendations that advance ecosystem stabilization or restoration; demonstrated leadership on interdisciplinary teams or among interagency groups. You must include hours per week worked. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
