Duties

Serve as the Assistant/Deputy Fire Chief. First line supervisor for subordinate supervisors and second line supervisor for their subordinate firefighting personnel. Discuss fire hazards and deficiencies with responsible installation officials. Participate in committees, working groups, and task forces with installation personnel. Act as Fire Chief during scheduled and unscheduled absences assuming full organizational control.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Secret security clearance is a requirement of this position.
  • This is a drug testing designated position.
  • Incumbent will be required to work a 60-hour work week (120 hours per pay period) which includes at least one 24-hour shift and may include working weekends and holidays.
  • This position requires the incumbent to report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, and other emergency situations as directed by the Garrison Commander.
  • Must be able to pass pre-appointment and subsequent periodic medical examinations IAW DoD 6055.05M to determine fitness for continued performance of the duties of the position.
  • Incumbent must maintain a functioning telephone at residence to aid in contact during recall situations.
  • A supervisory probationary period is required.
  • Incumbent must wear a uniform and appropriate safety apparel in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Incumbent must participate in the Fire Division's Fitness and Wellness Program that includes a cardiovascular physical fitness program IAW NFPA 1583 and DODI 6055.06.
