The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the primary Utility Systems Operator/Repairer at Curecanti National Recreation Area.

Duties

The incumbent will operate and maintain 9 potable water systems including all associated processes, sampling and recordkeeping. The incumbent will also be responsible for the operations, maintenance and repairs of the park's wastewater collection and distribution systems including two sewage lift stations and a four-cell sewage lagoon. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for performing and recording meter readings for water use as well as the use of propane at numerous locations around the park. Other responsibilities will include performing as a member of the park Buildings and Utilities crew in the operations, maintenance and repairs of plumbing and electrical systems parkwide. Tasks are performed with minimal supervision. Duties require complete competence and working knowledge of accepted practices of the applicable trades and crafts and equipment operation areas. Physical effort is heavy to moderate, and requires frequent lifting or handling of objects or materials up to 50 pounds, unassisted and following proper lifting procedures to avoid injury. Frequently required to stand while working, climb ladders, bend, stoop, climb, and work in awkward positions. Exposed to a variety of seasonal weather conditions while working outdoors (temperatures -30 to 90+ degrees). Subject to danger of falling from ladders or equipment. Exposed to dust, dirt, wind, and rain. May work with dangerous chemicals and around moving equipment; paints, solvents, etc. May be exposed to electrical shocks, and biting insects.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Must demonstrate the ability to do the work of a Utility Systems Repairer-Operator without more than normal supervision. To qualify at for this position, you must demonstrate the following trades: operate, maintain, and monitor, a water treatment system. Inspect, activate, deactivate, maintain, and repair a potable water distribution system. Ensure water meets the requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act and State Department of Public Health and Environment standards to include testing, adjusting and using Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. Repair, and maintain all facets of a potable water treatment facility including repair work on plumbing fixtures, service lines, and valves. (SCREEN OUT) This position requires possession of: Class B commercial Driver's license with tanker endorsement. You MUST provide proof of this licensing in your resume or application packet. Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair etc. Use of Measuring Instructions Technical Practices Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration.
