As a SUPERVISORY PROGRAM SPECIALIST (Chief of Staff) you will be responsible for the following duties:

Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, and will typically be demonstrated by working at, or immediately below the level of the job being advertised, for a year or more. The previous work experience must clearly demonstrate the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have specialized experience sufficient to demonstrate that you have acquired all the competencies necessary to perform at a level equivalent in difficulty, responsibility, and complexity to the next lower grade GS/GG 13 in the Federal service and are prepared to take on greater responsibility. Generally, this would include one year or more of such specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience participating in the mission and functions of a government organization to include the programs, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations of the organization; using managerial principles (or techniques) to develop recommendations for improvement; experience in supervisory/managerial competencies including professionalism, leadership, teamwork, oral and written communication, strategic focus, responsibility and accountability and innovation and initiative, customer service and resource stewardship; analyzing and evaluating (on a quantitative or qualitative basis) the effectiveness of programs and/or organizational activities; organizing work, setting priorities, and determining resource requirements; and working with other organizations or parts of the organization to accomplish goals. Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies: 1. Organizational Awareness: Knows the organization's mission and functions, and how its social, political, and technological systems work and operates effectively within them; this includes the programs, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations of the organization. 2. Vision: Understands where the organization is headed and how to make a contribution; takes a long-term view and recognizes opportunities to help the organization accomplish its objectives or move toward the vision. 3. Supervisory/Managerial: Knowledge of supervisory/managerial competencies including professionalism, leadership, teamwork, oral and written communication, strategic focus, responsibility and accountability and innovation and initiative, customer service and resource stewardship. 4. Planning and Evaluating: Organizes work, sets priorities, and determines resource requirements; determines short- or long-term goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinates with other organizations or parts of the organization to accomplish goals; monitors progress and evaluates outcomes. 5. Decision Making: Makes sound, well-informed, and objective decisions; perceives the impact and implications of decisions; commits to action, even in uncertain situations, to accomplish organizational goals; causes change.
