Duties

You will assist with safety inspections for all manner of weight handling equipment. You will assist in the normal daily preventive maintenance to the crane; operate that portion of the crane which carries the upper works and boom when necessary to move the crane from one place to another. You will perform and direct placement, removal, or repositioning of machinery, structural members of buildings, heavy equipment, bleachers, Quonset huts, boilers or other loads, frequently working with other mechanics. You will plan weight distribution and load maneuvering; braces, cushions and otherwise prepares load and attached appropriate lifting gear. You will manufacture, in the rigging lot, various slings and lifting attachments.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • MUST POSSESS A VALID COMMERCIAL CLASS "A" LICENSE AND OBTAIN A CALIFORNIA STATE CLASS "A" DRIVERS LICENSE.
  • IS SUBJECT TO RECALL 24 HRS A DAY, SEVEN DAYS A WEEK.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION.
