The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Administrative Officer in the Command Section of the 944th Fighter Wing and Air Force Reserve Command Wing. Responsible for administering and directing the wing's executive support functions and insuring that day-to-day operations comply with policy.

Duties

Plans, organizes, and directs the activities in the 944th Fighter Wing, ensuring that the Command Section complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Represents the 944th Fighter Wing with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Manages wing resources for executive support, services and activities.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

  • This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
  • May be required to travel by commercial and military aircraft in the performance of temporary duty (TDY) assignments.

  • This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.
  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Incumbent must have a comprehensive knowledge of Air Force Reserve Command organization, concepts, and policies including administrative and operational program requirements.
  • This is a Supervisory position. A one year supervisory probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include assessing programs/projects, analyzing findings and making recommendations on substantive operating programs; coordinating plans and schedules with other organization managers and customers; developing priorities in accordance with organizational and command policies and objectives; applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of processes and administrative and management support program operations; and exercising supervisory personnel management responsibilities. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of the overall mission, functions, operations and organization; and a variety of principles and processes applicable to the work operations of a military wing or equivalent and ability to plan, organize work, and manage multiple taskings. Knowledge of analytical, evaluative, planning and investigative processes, techniques and methods as applied to issues or studies involving administrative or support functions. Knowledge of the laws, regulations, policies and precedents applicable to wing programs and related support resources or equivalent. Knowledge of Air Force Reserve Command personnel and manpower policies and procedures. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
