About the Position: You will serve as a Supervisory Nurse (Clinical/OG-GYN) for the Department of Defense at the Army Community Hospital Winn located at Fort Stewart, GA. This is a Term Appointments Not to Exceed 3 Years and can be extended up to 4 years total. This appointment will not be made permanent.

Duties

Provide specialized obstetric and gynecologic nursing care to adolescents and adult women throughout the age spectrum. Initiate/manage intravenous fluids and administer medications via IV, oral, intramuscular and subcutaneous routes. Assist physicians with complex or potentially life-threatening procedures. Monitor ante-partum patients for signs and symptoms of early labor and initiate/maintain proper specialized procedures. Identify training and developmental opportunities of employees and arrange for employees to attend training(s). Establish performance objectives, evaluate performance and render official performance appraisals.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
  • Incumbent may be required to perform call duties; work overtime to include weekends and federal holidays, out of cycle, or unscheduled training or on an emergency basis.
  • The work will require the incumbent to work evenings/nights, rotating shifts, extended hours or other schedules common to hospital operations.
  • This is an inclement weather position. The incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during inclement weather conditions.
  • Incumbent will have to pass a pre-employment physical to meet Physical Efforts requirements. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination.
  • This position requires the ability to lift 40 lbs.
  • Must obtain and maintain Limited Estimated Amniotic Fluid Index (AFI) certification within one year.
  • Must obtain and maintain Fetal Monitoring Certification within one year.
  • Applicant tentatively selected for appointment to this position will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to sign DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
  • Must obtain within 30 days of employment and maintain certification through the America Heart Association in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP).
  • Must maintain current licensure in a state or territory offering NCLEX.
  • Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • May be required to complete a 1 Year Supervisory Probationary Period if not already completed.

Basic Requirement for Supervisory Nurse (Clinical/Obstetrics-Gynecology): Degree: A graduate or higher-level degree, bachelor's degree, associate's degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools. Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination and possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Professional Nursing Experience is defined as: One year of experience which includes providing clinical/OB-GYN nursing care and oversight of patients, based on physician's medical plan of care and assessment; administering oxygen, IV fluids, blood products, and prescribed medication; setting up, operating and monitoring specialized equipment; developing and/or overseeing development of nursing care plans; and identifying nursing issues specific to care of patients within the unit. At least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the 11).
