The primary purpose of this position is to provide leadership a subject matter expert (SME) out in the 90 Munition Support Squadrons (MUNS) to support the Logistic Readiness Squadron commander and senior leadership with expert continuity as the lead person performing key logistics processes. Duties

Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Decentralized Materiel Support (DMS) within the Logistics Readiness Squadron, ensuring customer support complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs. Performs technical supervisory duties for a team of supply technicians to accomplish day to day operations. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management. Represents the customer support and equipment accountability elements with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Manages the overall maintenance and supply interface, resolves supply support problems, reviews reports and coordinates supply related training needs for decentralized supply support personnel.

  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • To meet 24-hour operations, changes of work schedule may be required to fulfill supply support.
  • May be required to work other than normal duty hours and tours of duty such as rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, call back, holidays, etc.
  • The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver’s license may be required for the position.
  • May be required to participate in contingency situations, real world and exercise, as directed.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must become knowledgeable in Air Force Instruction (AFI) 20-110 in Nuclear Weapons-Related Materiel Management.
  • May be required to attend maintenance meetings along with Logistics Readiness Squadron (LRS) meetings.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Clerical and Administrative Support Positions for Supply Clerical and Technician Series, 2005. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes thorough knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions, and an intensive knowledge of local supply requirements to ensure supply support for productions, overhaul, repair, Nuclear Weapon Related Materiel (NWRM), or other operations for urgent, critical shortage, and other special items. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in­-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-08 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of governing supply regulations, procedures, and instructions. Knowledge of logistical functions, operations, systems, program requirements, and work methods. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) regulations, practices, and procedures. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of an organization. Ability to read, interpret, and apply applicable reference material such as regulations, manuals, catalogs, records, orders, etc., to accomplish tasks and resolve problems. Ability to apply basic analytical methods and techniques to resolve complex supply problems and/or deviate from normal supply management procedures or program requirements. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
