About the Position: Serves as the Training Technician for the CBRNE Analytical and Remediation Activity (CARA) and responsible for carrying out a variety of technical/administrative functions that assist supervisors and managers in administering training and education programs for the civilian personnel within the organization. Duties performed are in support of training conducted for and by CARA personnel as well as short courses, conferences and technical symposia attended by these employees.

Responsible for carrying out a variety of technical/administrative functions that assist supervisors and managers in administering training and education programs for the civilian personnel within the organization. Make sure current training regulations and policies are in place. Establish and maintain training data base in accordance with ISO (International Standards Organization) standards. Provide information to managers and employees concerning the types of training available, eligibility requirements, and procedures to follow in preparing and submitting training documents.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
  • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) of 25% or more (may be less if requested by management).
  • Appointment is subject to one-year probationary period.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Providing support for training programs for employees within an organization; AND 2) Administering support duties, for example, maintain appropriate records/files on employees, reviewing applications for training; AND 3) Operating multiple automated training systems to schedule and coordinate training, for example, Army Training Requirements and Resources System (ATRRS)and Digital Training Management System (DTMS). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: CommunicationsData Systems and ManagementOrganizational AwarenessTraining and Training Support Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
