About the Position: This position is located at Fort Polk, Louisiana. The surrounding community is comprised of the towns of Leesville, DeRidder, New Llano, & Anacoco. The nearest cities are Alexandria & Lake Charles. The area is considered rural with the Kisatchie National Forest, which offers hunting and recreational activities, located nearby such as Toledo Bend Lake, Vernon Lake & Anacoco Lake for those interested in fishing, boating, swimming, etc.

Duties

Devise procedures to implement budgetary/financial processes, policies, and regulations issued by higher commands. Advise staff, budget personnel, program managers, and other interested parties on the status and availability of fund Prepare reports covering the status of funds, expenses and obligations, as required by higher headquarters Coordinate with other staff elements of the organization to maintain accurate resource data such as workload and manpower, which may impact assigned activities.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • This position requires submission of a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, upon entering the position and annually.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time
  • This is a Financial Management Level 2 Certified position. This certification requirement is a condition of employment for this position. Failure to obtain this certification within the required time may subject the incumbent to adverse action.

To Qualify at the GS 9 level: Specialized Experience: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes which includes assisting with providing advice and/or guidance in financial areas (such as budget, civilian manpower, management programs and cost analysis and assist with advising management on program issues and make recommendations for corrective action. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Accounting. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed the percentage of the requirements is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. To qualify at the GS 11 level: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) applying budgetary and accounting systems regulations, practices, and procedures to effectively utilize funds; 2) ensuring funds are neither over or under obligated, and that monies are obligated and spent on a timely basis in accordance with the purposes for which they were allotted; 3) validating and analyzing data to provide advice and guidance to program administrators. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in afield which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Financial AnalysisInterpersonal SkillsOrganizational AwarenessWritten Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent.
