About the Position: The Walla Walla District US Army Corps of Engineers is comprised of motivated and talented employees providing the very best engineering services for communities in the Pacific Northwest. The District helps manage local water resources for navigation, flood damage reduction, disaster assistance, hydroelectric power generation, and other natural and heritage areas.

Duties

Serve as Construction Control Representative in charge of construction activities. Responsible for supervision of project personnel engaged in inspecting construction work on a wide variety of construction activities. Plan inspection work and incidental functions in connection with construction work being performed by contractors. Ensure that work conforms to the plans and specifications of the contract and in accordance with policy requirements. Maintain continuous contact with contractor's representatives to coordinate plans, efforts, and objectives. Make on-the-spot decisions and commitments to avoid delays in construction with respect to minor changes in design, deviations from schedule, substitution of materials, and resolution of disputes over the acceptability of work. Recommend approval or disapproval of major changes in plans, specifications and construction schedules. Provide surveillance to effect compliance with safety provisions of the contract and Corps of Engineers' Safety Requirements. Monitor the Contractor Quality Control Program.

GS-9 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in one (1) or more of the following: (1) assisting in enforcing construction plans and specifications; (2) assisting in providing field measurements, computations and first-hand information of site conditions; (3) documenting daily construction activities; (4) assisting in preparing pay estimates for contractor work; (5) enforcing industry and safety standards, and (6) reviewing and monitoring construction schedules for contract compliance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). GS-10 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in two (2) or more of the following: (1) assisting in enforcing construction plans and specifications; (2) assisting in providing field measurements, computations and first-hand information of site conditions; (3) documenting daily construction activities; (4) assisting in preparing pay estimates for contractor work; (5) enforcing industry and safety standards, and (6) reviewing and monitoring construction schedules for contract compliance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). GS-11 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in three (3) or more of the following: (1) enforcing construction plans and specifications; (2) providing field measurements, computations and first-hand information of site conditions; (3) documenting daily construction activities; (4) preparing pay estimates for contractor work; (5) enforcing industry and safety standards, and (6) reviewing and monitoring construction schedules for contract compliance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).
