This position is located in the Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Administration (OA), Human Resources Division (HRD), Personnel and Physical Security Branch (PPSB). DOJ's mission is to uphold the rule of law, keep the country safe and protect civil rights. OJP's mission is to provide leadership, resources, and solutions for creating safe, just and engaged communities. OA provides building and emergency management, resource provision and multi-media services to OJP offices.

Duties

Serves as Lead Physical Security Specialist in the Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office of Administration (OA), Human Resources Division (HRD), Personnel and Physical Security Branch (PPSB). Implements, evaluates and provides guidance on physical security. Plans and manages OJP's integrated physical security systems and controls. Serves as the source of authoritative information for the most complex and sensitive access control cases and organizational issues, procedures, relevant DOJ guidance and leading industry practices. Develops, coordinates, and implements all US Access program updates requiring the application of new theories and developments to physical security credentialing problems, i.e., they are not susceptible to treatment by accepted security methods, technology or procedures. Ensures that physical security standards for access control management and credentialing programs are applied about technically sensitive facilities are both adequate and in conformance with DOJ and industry leading policy/standards. Designs and directs security compliance reviews to determine adherence to federal and DOJ OJP security policies, orders and regulations.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include: Provides technical knowledge and skills in the management of integrated enterprise security and video management systems. Advises on new developments and/or advances in security techniques in physical security, such as new techniques and systems to mitigate security risk surrounding access control and credentialing threats. Plans and/or manages varied and/or complex projects in conjunction with multiple project teams, in relation to physical security. Conducts preliminary site surveys to evaluate physical access management threat levels, system requirements and credentialing limitations or restrictions.
