Performs a broad range of functions, which require application of experience and familiarity with the organization and thorough knowledge of applicable procedures, regulations, and adult learning principles. The incumbent reports directly to the Administrative Officer or the Associate Chief of Staff for Education, and works collaboratively with Senior Leadership. Incumbent reports to the Associate Chief of Staff for Education (ACOS/E) at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center (RHJVAMC).

Duties

The Education Technician is responsible for identifying, implementing, and assessing effective instructional design, methods and educational technologies for educational programming to support the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center (RHJVAMC) programs. Duties include actively participating as a part of a multidisciplinary team to assess and develop medical education curriculum and evaluations to support multiple clinical service lines and medical service support staff. Additional duties include but are not limited to: Identify and· develop shared curriculum across medical and allied health programs; coordinate medical education programming. Develop content and quality oversight to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements for all electronic learning programs/systems including organization, application, analysis, synthesis, evaluation, and program development. Provide guidance and advice on program policies and procedures, participate in performance improvement activities, and conduct and act as a resource for Service Line and Service specific program needs. Provide oversight of the library program, coordinate training and travel funding, and VHA sponsored scholarship programs. Provides technical support/coordination for educational classes and trains others. Provides guidance related to videotaping and/or copying, and distributing electronic media. Serves as the TMS direct Education Service Line liaison. Serves as the Administrator for the Class Management System (CMS) and Personal Development Plan (PDP) applications. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 05/01/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: making minor adaptions to procedures and accepted practices, and serving as an administrative role. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required.
